Newton's historic preservation efforts seek to preserve and protect buildings, landmarks, and districts that reflect historical significance and Newton's unique community culture and heritage. This includes several sites listed on the National and Kansas Registers of Historic Places, as well as three national historic districts — two commercial districts downtown and one residential district.
